Many resources exist to promote digital literacy. We however live in a time were literacy becomes barely sufficient and we need to start to aim for proficiency.

Now just know how to read and write content on the internet, but how to use the internet and other modern publishing environments (computer programs) as tools, to best suit our needs.

As an ex-teacher who had a second career as a programmer, I try and provide bridges between standards listed in the curriculum (NZ for now, US to follow) and these skills as they are used in the industry, on a day to day basis.

It may be worth noting that technology is only one part of the equation. Other factors need to be considered. I tried to capture it in the mind map below. In this space, we cover mostly the elements of medium (captured as "over" in the mindmap) and technology (captured by "on").
